Awayday travel & accommodation options

St Hildas logo.JPG

It is possible to stay at the conference venue itself (see bottom of this page). However, this year we have also reserved a good quantity of comfortable, well-priced rooms for Awayday delegates at St Hilda's, one of the nearby Oxford University Colleges. St Hilda's is located in beautiful grounds right next to the river Thames and is just a few minutes' walk from Oxford city centre. Both single and twin occupancy en-suite rooms are available; sharing can be a great way to reduce costs and catch up with existing connections or make new ones.

See a short video tour of a typical room. (Single rooms are the same as twin rooms but with only one bed.)

To book a room email events@st-hildas.ox.ac.uk, quoting 'ELT Publishing Professionals'.

  • Single en-suite rooms (same room type as a twin but with only one bed) with breakfast for £99.

  • Twin en-suite rooms with breakfast for £125.40.

  • Beautiful riverside location and gardens.

  • Check in from 3pm; luggage store if arriving earlier.

  • 10-min taxi ride (typically £5 fare) or 25-min walk from Oxford train or bus station.

  • 5-min walk from the London/Heathrow/Gatwick bus and Oxford Thornhill Park & Ride bus stops.

  • Affordable parking at Thornhill Park & Ride, £12 for 72 hours.

  • College punts are available to use on the river at the cost of £20 per 2-hour session (max 5 people per boat).

PLEASE NOTE: We do not recommend driving to St Hilda's. There is no parking available at the college or in nearby streets, which require residents' parking permits. However, 5-minutes' walk away there is a small car park at St Clement's (£15.20 for 24 hours). We recommend public transport or the Thornhill Park & Ride (£12 for 4872 hours).

The voco® Oxford Spires hotel is the venue where the Awayday takes place. Although the hotel is not as economical as St Hilda's, delegates who have stayed in the hotel in recent years have praised the standard of the rooms and service.

Delegates receive a discounted flexible B&B room rate of £160 single occupancy and £170 double occupancy (can be cancelled up to midday of the day of check in) which includes access to the pool, steam room, sauna and gym.

Call 01865 324648 (9am to 5pm) and quote the ELT Publishing Professionals Awayday. (Note that more competitive rates for the hotel, albeit with less flexibility, can sometimes be found through other online agents.)
